Tectoniq goes free and open source
Why the change?
Tectoniq started as a commercial fintech platform with tiered subscriptions, Stripe billing, and gated features. After months of building and iterating, we came to a clear conclusion: the mission matters more than the business model.
The goal of Tectoniq has always been to provide transparent, reproducible, descriptive market risk analysis — grounded in methodology, not marketing. Paywalls and tier restrictions got in the way of that goal. They added complexity to the codebase, friction for users, and distracted from what actually matters: the engine and the analysis.
What changed
- All features are now free for every registered user. No tiers, no gating, no upgrade prompts.
- Stripe integration removed entirely. No billing, no subscriptions, no payment infrastructure.
- The analysis engine is open source on GitHub. You can inspect every calculation, verify every metric, and contribute improvements.
- User accounts remain for personalized features like portfolios, watchlists, and alerts.
What's live right now
Tectoniq is fully operational. Here is everything that is up and running today:
- Asset analysis — Four-pillar structural risk analysis (trend regime, volatility state, extension from mean, market coupling) for thousands of assets.
- Price charts — Interactive charts with SMA200, EMA200 overlays and regime shading.
- Portfolio tracking — Create and manage multiple portfolios with aggregate risk monitoring, regime distribution, and historical risk evolution.
- Watchlists — Custom watchlists with configurable columns and grouping.
- Market Pulse — Live dashboard showing broad market regime state across indices and sectors.
- Asset comparison — Side-by-side structural comparison of multiple assets.
- Share analysis — Generate and share analysis images with watermark and price chart.
- Risk narratives — Plain-language summaries of each asset's structural state, grounded in the four pillars.
What's coming next
The project continues. Here is what is on the roadmap:
- Segment analysis — Sector and thematic grouping with aggregate regime views.
- Alerts — Configurable alerts for regime changes, volatility spikes, extension breaches, and price crossings.
- Enhanced portfolio analytics — Deeper risk decomposition and historical drawdown analysis.
- API access — Public API for programmatic access to the analysis engine.
